Cactus Flower

One more for the road.... "Cactus Flower" oil on canvas, 8" x 10" This will be the last one for a few days. I've got lots of prep work to do in the next 3 days getting all my art selected, matted, wired, more cards printed, signs made, price tags...all the many little details needed for a 3-day outdoor art show....Indian Wells Arts Festival, April 1,2,3.

Three new landscapes

"Tranquility," "Trailhead" and "The Bridge." I may be painting landscapes, but I sure haven't seen the real outdoors for awhile....chained to my easel. Trying to beef up the inventory for next weekend's Indian Wells Arts Festival. I'll have to stop painting tomorrow as I need at least 5 days for the pieces to be dry enough to touch. They're all out in the sunroom with a fan blowing on them. Oil on canvas 8" x 10"

Indian Wells Arts Festival First Place

"Heaven is a '57" won first place for watercolor at this weekend's Indian Wells Arts Festival. I was so thrilled. It couldn't have been a more perfect weekend. Beautiful weather, beautiful setting, fantastic music and food.... lots of friends and well-wishers dropping by to say hello...not to mention sales :-} One of the best times of my life. Will be a great memory for years to come.
Thank you to all who made it possible.

Indian Wells Arts Festival Day One

The setting for the Indian Wells Arts Festival is really pretty. Two hundred artists among the palm tress with mountain views in every direction. Sorry, any of you still stuck in snow, or whatever. The day started out lovely, sunny and a light breeze. There were 65 mph afternoon wind gusts predicted. 1 o'clock came and everything was fine. 1:15 different story. Winds really kicked up. They shut the Festival down early to be safe. Probably only reached 35 mph, but still scary. My side tent wall really blocked the wind, so I was fairly protected. I sold 3 paintings just as we were shutting down. The wind made it difficult to hold the paper down to write the receipts. Luckily, my friend Lorrie stopped by just in time to help me take everything down and stow it for the night. Tomorrow and Sunday are supposed to be beautiful. I'm right across from the stage so get a front row seat for all the great live music. Even had some opera this morning from the local college group that was wonderful. Gonna be a fun weekend.

Don’t forget to vote for my ’57 Chevy in the American Artist watercolor competition. (See March 26th post.) If you like the painting, please go to the link below and vote for me. Voting ends April 15th. Thanks :-}

Palm Springs Life Magazine

I knew there was going to be a story about my artwork for the Indian Wells Arts Festival poster, but I didn't know is was going to be two full pages! I'm thrilled, to say the least. In addition the Festival ad is a full page giving me three full pages showing my work and the Arts Festival. I'm also going to be on the local NBC affiliate morning news show on Wednesday. This is soooo much fun! Palm Springs Life Magazine is on sale at newstands now. The IWAF Festival is April 3,4&5, Indian Wells, CA

Another Indian Wells Arts Festival Billboard

I was so thrilled to find out yesterday that there is another billboard. The second one is not on the freeway but on a main thoroughfare through town. It has a gorgeous setting right across the street from the entrance to Mission Hills Resort Golf Course where the Nabisco, Dinah Shore Golf Tournament is held. The art festival producer and I were at the printer yesterday approving the press check for the Indian Wells Arts Festival poster and drove by the billboard on the way home. The poster is for sale online at http://indianwellsartsfestival.com/ and orders have been coming in already even before it's off the press. The posters are being delivered to me this afternoon for signing. It's all very exciting.

Indian Wells Arts Festival Billboard on I-10

The Indian Wells Arts Festival director and I "unveiled" the poster art today at the Indian Wells council meeting to the Mayor and City Council. Got to have my picture taken with the Mayor. They loved the poster (phew!) and even bought one already. Then on the way home I had to hop on the freeway and there, much to my surprise, was the billboard. What fun to see my work on Interstate 10. The colors are a bit different from the poster, so I posted the original to show how it really looks. What a fun day.
