Finalist in Watercolor magazine Cover Competition

"Bird in Paradise" was selected as one of only nine finalists in the 2010 Watercolor magazine cover competition. My work is featured on page 27 of the Summer issue on newsstands now. This art was the poster art for the 2009 Indian Wells Arts Festival and the original is currently on display in the State Capitol as part of the Senate's Eighth Annual California Contemporary Art Collection.

Finalist in Watercolor Magazine cover competition

I think I'm going to faint. I'd forgotten that I'd entered, but just got an email that "Bird in Paradise" is a finalist in American Artist Watercolor Magazine's 2010 Cover Competition. The painting and a story about my work will appear in the Summer issue. This was the poster art for last year's Indian Wells Arts Festival and is currently on display in the State Capitol through 2010. Watercolor magazine hasn't chosen the winner yet. They will let us know. Oh my.... wouldn't that be something to be on the cover!

California Senate selects "Bird in Paradise" for high honor

State Senator John J. Benoit, R-Bermuda Dunes selected my “Bird in Paradise” watercolor for inclusion in the Senate’s Ninth Annual California Contemporary Art Collection exhibit. This high state honor will allow my artwork to be showcased in the Maddy Lounge in the state Capitol through September 2010. "Bird in Paradise" was the poster art for the 2009 Indian Wells Arts Festival. To say the least, I am thrilled and honored.

Another Indian Wells Arts Festival Billboard

I was so thrilled to find out yesterday that there is another billboard. The second one is not on the freeway but on a main thoroughfare through town. It has a gorgeous setting right across the street from the entrance to Mission Hills Resort Golf Course where the Nabisco, Dinah Shore Golf Tournament is held. The art festival producer and I were at the printer yesterday approving the press check for the Indian Wells Arts Festival poster and drove by the billboard on the way home. The poster is for sale online at http://indianwellsartsfestival.com/ and orders have been coming in already even before it's off the press. The posters are being delivered to me this afternoon for signing. It's all very exciting.

Indian Wells Arts Festival Billboard on I-10

The Indian Wells Arts Festival director and I "unveiled" the poster art today at the Indian Wells council meeting to the Mayor and City Council. Got to have my picture taken with the Mayor. They loved the poster (phew!) and even bought one already. Then on the way home I had to hop on the freeway and there, much to my surprise, was the billboard. What fun to see my work on Interstate 10. The colors are a bit different from the poster, so I posted the original to show how it really looks. What a fun day.
