Rustic Roses daily painting

I'm trying to loosen up and do work that's a bit less detailed. Many of the paintings that I really admire have extremely loose brushstrokes. Not as easy at it looks. Seems it takes a lot of effort to look effortless. One of my favorite quotes is Thomas Jefferson's "If I had more time I'd write shorter letters." I think that translates to painting, also :-} "Rustic Roses" oil on canvas 8"x 6" available at Daily Paintworks

Raindrops on Roses

Another great find on one of my evening sunset walks. I see a painting in the near future.

Red, White and Blueberry

I know it's not the 4th of July yet, but I couldn't wait. This 5-3/4" x 8" oil on gallery-wrap canvas is available for $150 on my website http://www.dianemorganpaints.com/

The rose image below "Look Deeper" is a photograph yet to be painted. In preparation for my paintings I shoot hundreds of photographs. I recently began submitting the photos to competitions and have started winning awards. I thought viewers might like to see the sources for my paintings so I have added a new section to my website for my photographs. You may see them at www.DianeMorganShoots.com

I am currently exhibiting in the on-line photography competition called EXPOSURE at ArtistWanted.org. Please visit the site and vote for me if you like what you see. http://www.artistwanted.org/DianeMorganFineArt

In the Spotlight

This is my favorite setting again...."sunset" with cadmium orange in the highlights and alizarin crimson in the shadows. Recognize the vase, Lynn?

I was reading about the daily painters, and one fellow mentioned that he set a timer for 30 minutes. That was the time allowed for his paintings, no more. I would never feel that mine are finished in that short a time. Though it might be an interesting experiment. I spend 3 to 4 hours on each. And, that does not include time spent coming up with the idea and setting up the still life. This 8" x 5-3/4" oil on gallery-wrap canvas is available for $150 on my website http://www.dianemorganpaints.com/

Display of Affection

A lovely bunch of roses that just called out to be painted. My favorite color choices again ...."sunset" with Cadmium Orange in the highlights and Alizarin Crimson in the shadows.
This 5-3/4" x 8" oil on gallery-wrap canvas is available for $150 on my website www.DianeMorganPaints.com These little paintings may be framed, but are ready to hang, and look good just as they are without a frame.... on the wall or on a little easel.

Desperate Housewife

I thought this "Painted Rose" was going to be a charming little painting of a rose in an antique canning jar. But, instead it looks like an angry farm wife wearing an old-fashioned bonnet with her hand propped defiantly on her hip. Oh well. This 5-3/4" x 8" oil on gallery-wrap canvas is available for $150 on my website www.DianeMorganPaints.com But, after the angry farm wife description who would want to buy it ?
