"Could Had a V-8" Ford Fairlane watercolor by Diane Morgan

I love painting cars.  I was born in Detroit.  I'm sure I have some motor oil in my veins.  Like Alfred Hitchcock I always place a little cameo of myself in my car paintings in a reflection. Watercolor on Arches 300# cold press.

Always look for "The Silver Lining" oil on canvas

This has always been one of my favorites scenes to paint....an apple orchard in Washington State. From sunrise to sunset the beautiful changes in the landscape and clouds are an artist's dream.   Oil on canvas 12 x 12"

And, so it begins.... How I start an oil painting

And so it begins.....
I love prepping my canvas with orange. It leaves a lovely glow shining through oil glazes. I then draw the image with white charcoal. Next step... mixing lots of paint before I start.

"Martini Sunrise" accidental idea

Not tequila sunrise, but  “Martini Sunrise.”

I inadvertently leaned my martini painting up against a recent landscape. Top half is an oil; bottom a watercolor.  I thought …….hmmmmmm…… I might have something here.  I think I will have to paint this combo.

"Sunken Treasure" watercolor class demo

Tried a new surface.  Arches watercolor board.  It's quite nice.  Fun to work with.  Stains a little easier with some colors, but overall I'd give it a two thumbs up.  No buckling because the entire sheet is glued to a board.  No need to tape or staple to a support.  Comes in 32" x 40" sheets.  Quite reasonable.  "Sunken Treasure" 8-1/2" x 11"  http://dianemorganfineart.com/works/1624419/sunken-treasure

Watercolor Show reception at Rancho Mirage Library.

Had fun at the Rancho Mirage Public Library reception for the three watercolor ladies.... Robin St. Louis, Moira Johannessen and yours truly.  Unbelievably, Solveig Rimstad who lives in Norway sent her Palm Desert cousin Inger Yarijian with a beautiful bouquet of flowers for me. That's the second time she has done this. Thank you Solveig!  Inger took a picture, I thought, but it is missing from my camera. Must not have pushed the button hard enough.
