Oreos

I miss doing my little oils. Started this one last October. Finally finished it last night. I kept putting it off because it had so much difficult little detail work.

I'll say this was a challenge! Did you go from a 000 brush to using a single hair to paint this! You're amazing!

These look yummy Diane. Would LOVE to wrap my lips around them. Your detail is wonderful.

YUM!! Having a childhood flashback, here. Beautifully done.

Sheila, the smallest brush I have is a 0, and it was very difficult. The hairs were not stiff enough and had to keep thinning the paint to get it to flow. If you want to see some truly amazing Oreos go to Neil Hollingsworth's blog. He did a commission for the company who makes them. http://neilhollingsworth.blogspot.com/2008_11_01_archive.html

I really liked your DSFDF entry! The oreos look good enough to eat. Question...is the watercolor you varnished on paper or watercolor canvas?

Diane Morgan said...

Hi Annelein, the varnished apples were on regular 300# Arches watercolor paper. I used Krylon spray Matte Finish on them. I guess those more experienced at it actually brush the varnish on. I'm going to investigate further. Your DSFDF entries are always fantastic. I see that you also do oils too, like me. I can't decide which I like best, oil or water. Lucky you taking a Carol Marine workshop!

Excellent job with the Oreos, Diane! Beautiful color - well done!

Thanks, Ed. They were quite the challenge. I never draw before I do the little oils so working on a pattern like that takes real concentration.

Amazing Oreos.
Where's the milk?
Love it!

Ah, you're right Irit. Next time I'll have to paint it with a glass of milk. Who can eat an Oreo without it?

Yuuumm! I like your DSDF challenge, too. Also--I voted! Your work is so diverse, and so fantastic.
