Cherry Jar

Different color combinations give the appearance of different times of day. I like to paint using "sunset" colors and "moonlight" colors. This is a moonlight scene. To create the look of moonlight, the highlights are Phthalo Green combined with white which makes a turquoise color. The shadows are Alizarin Crimson and Ultramarine Blue. I learned about this Color System from Elin Pendleton. She teaches a fabulous workshop that makes it so easy to make color selections for any time of the day. After taking her workshop I now paint with so much more ease and joy. You can see her work at www.elinart.com or follow her blog at www.elinpendleton.blogspot.com. This 5-3/4" x 8" oil on gallery-wrap canvas is available for $150 through my website http://www.dianemorganfineart.com/
